Next steps for needs assessment survey and collection of resources agreed
At the premises of the Slovenian partner school Zavod za gluhe in naglušne in Ljubljana, Slovenia the partners of the Strategies for Inclusion project met from 26 until 29 June. In this third partner meeting some significant steps were made for the implementation of the project. This phase of the project includes conducting phase one of a Needs Assessment study, and collection of existing resources. The Needs Assessment will be conducted by EuroClio ambassador Manuela Carvalho on behalf of the Portuguese partner to find out more about the barriers to high-quality history and citizenship education, specifically focussing on the barriers for inclusive and accessible. In this first phase a survey will be spread across the EuroClio network and partner networks in Armenia, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia and The Netherlands. We will share the link in the coming weeks.
Additionally the project will result in a collection of existing resource on the topic, and in the coming period all partners will contribute by writing summary reports. These reports cover the top 10 sources for different topics including high-quality history and history education, inclusiveness, studies on motivation and behaviour and materials specifically for students that are blind or partially sighted, deaf or hard-of-hearing. EuroClio member CIVITAS from Armenia is coordinating this process.
The partners were also informed about the progress on the development of educational materials by members of the two Special Interest Groups in the project. Finally the Dutch partner Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences is responsible for policy recommendations. During this meeting the partners agreed these will be targeted at teacher training institutes and include practical recommendations to remove barriers for high-quality history and citizenship education and make it more inclusive and accessible.
