Hosted by Europahuis Ryckevelde in Bruges, Belgium, the development team of the Decisions and Dilemmas project ‘Exploring European Union history through the lens of contemporary issues’ (internal link) came together from 25th until 27th May 2016. In the project context 6 learning activities are developed focusing on different contemporary issues including economic imbalances, energy dependency, global trade, and migration and Schengen. After a general update on the ‘Changing Europe: European decisions and European dilemmas’ Historiana unit by project managers Steven Stegers and Judith Geerling, the team went into active learning mode and tried out a scripted drama on the Founding Fathers of the EU, designed by team member Kate Brennan. Team members Bojana Dujkovic-Blagojevic, Guido Lessing, Kate Smee and Ute Ackermann-Boeros furthermore presented the draft versions of their learning activity ideas to team coordinator and Historiana Learning editor Helen Snelson and the project advisors – the Historiana Historical Content team editors, Jean Monnet professor Léonce Bekemans and fm. Advisor and Head of Unit in DG Enlargement within the EU, Alain Servantie. The coming period the team members will work on processing the feedback they received into the first full version of their learning activities, and focus on the piloting and peer-reviewing process. The final materials will be presented in the form of workshops during the EuroClio Annual Conference in Donostia/San Sebastian, so if you are interested to learn more join us during our Annual Conference in San Sebastián!
