The Monument(al) Challenges project is looking for an experienced online course developer to create a self-paced, free-access course designed to support educators in teaching complex and sensitive histories, focusing on legacies of colonialism, slavery, imperialism, and contested cultural heritage. The course will equip educators with the tools to engage students in exploring these histories through Place-Based Learning (PBL).

The online course will be based on the Monument(al) Challenges Toolkit lesson plans and will guide teachers on using monuments as educational tools, taking a step-by-step approach to pedagogy and offering insight into how to design and adapt lessons for diverse local contexts. It will be hosted on Xperiencify to ensure equitable access and long-term availability.

We seek a professional with experience in instructional design, online course development, and history education who can work with the toolkit’s authors to develop the online course. The ideal candidate will be able to create a dynamic learning experience that reflects the project’s pedagogy while offering teachers a flexible approach to professional development. The course will contain video tutorials, visual resources, and the pedagogical content developed in collaboration with the toolkit’s authors. The course should be finalised by October 31, 2025. The course developer will receive a fee of 6,000€.

How to Apply:  Interested candidates should submit a CV, portfolio, and a brief proposal outlining their approach to the task to Paula O’Donohoe at secretariat@euroclio.eu

Deadline: April 7, 2025.
