Flemish Institution for Cultural Heritage (FARO)
Vlaams steunpunt voor cultureel erfgoed
The Flemish Institution for Cultural Heritage works with and for heritage professionals across a variety of institutions, including archives, heritage libraries, heritage cells, organizations focused on intangible cultural heritage, heritage service providers, and museums. Their services also reach target groups such as educators, policymakers, and municipal culture and heritage services.
FARO is dedicated to fostering a resilient and inclusive society where people recognize and experience the value and impact of cultural heritage. They strive for a sustainable and dynamic future for cultural heritage by supporting those who actively pass it on across generations. As a central hub within the network of cultural heritage organizations in Flanders and Brussels, FARO provides inspiration and support to heritage workers through their versatile and committed team. They collaborate with partners both within and outside the sector to develop new practices and promote cooperation and exchange, including on an international scale.
Their aims include broadening, intertwining, and deepening the cultural heritage field in Flanders into a dynamic network; developing the competencies of both novice and experienced heritage workers in Flanders through a range of learning opportunities; inspiring and strengthening cultural heritage practice through quality information and advice; increasing societal support for cultural heritage; and innovating the sector through research, experimentation, and the development of new practices.
