This webinar series delves into the role of games as powerful tools for nurturing civic engagement and social-emotional learning (SEL) in young people. The sessions focus on using playful experiences to equip students with essential skills to address complex challenges, collaborate, and engage in civic life. Drawing inspiration from the PBS documentary A Brief History of the Future, the webinars explore how “futures thinking” can be integrated into civic education to inspire innovative approaches to strengthening democracies amidst rising global polarisation.

Each webinar provides unique insights into game design, allowing participants to create their own educational activities. In addition, participants will gain access to an exclusive classroom-ready game. The series is designed to empower educators and students alike to rethink civic engagement and collaboratively shape a better future. Both sessions can be joined independently, offering distinct learning opportunities.

The two webinars are:

  1. Gamifying Civics – How We Can Use Games (September 26)
  2. Futures Thinking Meets Civic Engagement (November 7)

The webinars are planned to occur between 16:30 – 18:00 CET. You can join both or only one. Both webinars of this series are free of charge.
