The journal Historical Encounters is looking for submissions for its special issue “Revisiting Epistemic Cognition in History: Historians, Teachers, and Learners”, to be published in 2024.
This will be a follow-up to the special issue “Epistemic Cognition in History”, which was published in April 2022. The new issue seeks to explore both conceptual and empirical approaches to epistemological ambiguity, which is a theme that has been highlighted in research about epistemic cognition in history. It aims to investigate considerations and beliefs held by historians, teachers and/or students that bring to light intersections between different ways of thinking about the subject. Topics that will be addressed include multi-perspectivism, the interpretation of epistemological issues in history curricula and syllabi, as well as the implications of research on epistemic cognition for the training of history teachers.
