From February 27 to March 2, 2025, history educators and project partners gathered in Prague for the Making Visegrad Histories Digital Train the Trainer meeting. This event marked a crucial step in preparing participants to share the prepared learning modules and implement the project’s educational resources across the Visegrad region and beyond.

The meeting opened with a presentation by Ján Telepovský on the project’s visual identity, followed by in-depth discussions led by Juraj Varga, Georgi Pavlov, and Danee van den Heuvel on key learning modules developed by the team, such as Media, Propaganda, and Censorship and Nostalgia and Memory. Participants engaged in hands-on testing of educational activities, including innovative learning activities on topics like the Colorado potato beetle developed by Wojtek Bednarski as a Cold War propaganda tool and the ways communists celebrated May Day. The latter was introduced by Juraj Varga.

A major focus of the event was planning the upcoming national training sessions. Andreas Holtberget and Paula O’Donohoe facilitated budget management, evaluation, and reporting requirements discussions. The working sessions explored various training formats, shared best practices, and linked the initiative to EuroClio’s broader network, including the upcoming MVHD Autumn School and EuroClio Annual Conference.

Beyond structured discussions, the meeting also included a visit to the Museum of Communism, offering participants a direct connection to the historical themes explored in the project.

As the project moves forward, the Prague meeting provided a solid foundation for equipping educators with the tools to engage students in critically exploring the communist past of the Visegrad region through digital history education.

The project group agreed to establish a shared professional hub—a collaborative initiative aimed at fostering joint projects that promote multiperspectivity and transnational approaches to history education.
