Call for Participants – Creating Lessons with Cultural Heritage

Call for Participants – Creating Lessons with Cultural Heritage

A new collaboration between Europeana and EuroClio

There is an untapped wealth of cultural heritage available through museums, archives and other cultural institutions. Finding sources and developing these into classroom activities is time consuming for teachers.

In this new initiative, ‘Creating Lessons with Cultural Heritage’, Europeana and EuroClio are joining forces to promote the use of cultural heritage in education.

How will we do this?

We will work with teacher leaders and cultural heritage professionals from five different countries on the co-creation of ready to use eLearning activities that make use of digital cultural heritage collections.

Participants will attend a 1.5 day co-creation programme in The Hague, where they will be introduced to a range of teaching and learning strategies, and work with facilitators to adapt these to their local context and language. Having developed new activities that promote digital cultural collections in the classroom, participants will then host active workshops to introduce these resources to at least 20 educator peers in their respective countries.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for educators and cultural heritage professionals who would like to take part in this exciting new initiative to develop classroom activities that make use of digital cultural sources, and who are willing to take on a leadership role in sharing these activities with educator peers in their own country.

The educator leaders will be expected to:

  • Participate in a 1.5 day co-creation programme in May (a working level of English is necessary).
  • Prepare for the co-creation programme by bringing their own sources.
  • Following the co-creation programme, host national workshops to introduce their eLearning resources to educator peers.

What do we offer?

  • Opportunity to meet with like-minded people and organisations.
  • A hands-on, collaborative programme that will introduce teacher leaders to eLearning activities and help them to create their own.
  • Fully-funded residency (travel and accommodation) in The Hague.

Are you interested?

To introduce you to the project, Europeana and EuroClio are hosting an online information session on Wednesday 26th March, at 16:30 CET. Register here to attend the information session and learn more about the project.

If you are not able to attend the session, please contact annaroizes@euroclio.eu so that we can provide you with the information.
