We are seeking proofreaders to review the translation of the Monument(al) Challenges Toolkit, a resource designed to help teachers create lessons on contested histories as part of the Monument(al) Challenges project.
Classrooms across Europe are becoming increasingly diverse, while controversies surrounding contested historical legacies in public spaces fuel contestations over cultural heritage and conflicts over national history interpretations. In response to these challenges, the Monument(al) Challenges Toolkit provides educators with the necessary tools to teach these critical subjects through place-based learning and innovative pedagogies. The toolkit was designed for educators in formal and non-formal settings, providing guidelines and resources tailored to their needs when teaching about contested histories.
About the Toolkit:
It includes 12 lesson plans of contested histories, written in age-appropriate language, with multiple viewpoints on how the historical contestation could be resolved. The lesson plans offer step-by-step descriptions of roleplay activities with students. The toolkit also provides tutorials for onsite learning, a dedicated selection of teaching and learning methods, and guidance on assessment.
We are specifically looking for proofreaders in the following languages: Greek, Turkish, Danish, French, Dutch, and Serbian. The aim is to ensure the accuracy of the concepts and content translated and the cultural relevance of the materials for their respective audiences.
Each translator will receive a stipend of €1,000 for their work.
