The European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture (ERIAC) is a joint initiative of the Council of Europe, the Roma Foundation for Europe, and the Alliance for the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture. Registered as an association under German law and launched in Berlin in 2017, ERIAC is headquartered in Berlin, with additional offices in Serbia and Romania. ERIAC exists to increase the self-esteem of Roma people and to decrease negative prejudice among the majority population towards Roma, through arts, culture, history, and media. It is the only transnational, European-level organisation with a mandate for the recognition of Roma arts and culture, acting as a creative hub that connects Roma artists, cultural workers, and organisations across borders with policymakers and cultural institutions.
