The education sector in Kosovo is currently characterised by extensive reform efforts in all sub-sectors, addressing key challenges of increasing participation and improving equity and quality of education with limited resources. In 2011 the Ministry of Education Science and Technology announced the Kosovo Education Strategic Plan 2011 – 2016 (KESP), which links life-long learning and inclusion in education and is based on a learning model that reaches out to all learners offering equal opportunities and quality education.

With funding from the Norwegian Embassy of Kosovo and in close partnership with the History Teachers Association of Kosovo (SHMHK), EuroClio – The Inspiring History and Citizenship Educators, aims to support the implementation of the Kosovo Core Curriculum and specifically the Learning Area “Society and Environment”, of which the subject ‘History’ is a part. The project, entitled ‘History Matters’; will help to increase the professional capacities of teachers, curriculum developers and textbook authors, enabling them to actively contribute to the process of reform within the context of a strengthening professional network facilitated by SHMHK.
