Doctoral grant for Board Member Marjan de Groot-Reuvekamp

Board Member Marjan de Groot-Reuvekamp was one of 36 teachers who received a doctoral grant, that allows her to do research for a period of four years on a 0.4 fte basis. The theme of her study is "Improving the understanding of historical time of students aged 6 to 12 years".

The study focuses on the comparison of the English and Dutch curriculum for history in primary education, more specific for student’s understanding of historical time. The results will be used for the development of a didactical approach to improve students’ understanding of historical time. A quasi-experimental design is used in the grades 3,4 and 6,7 to measure effects of the approach. The study will result in recommendations for primary education and teacher training.
