Project Aims and Targets

The overall Aim of the project was to facilitate the Innovation of History Education with a focus on Peace, Stability and Democracy in the MATRA countries. This aim had to be reached through the following targets areas:

• To enhance the quality of history education
• To cooperate, communicate and network internationally
• To professionalise history teachers and their organisations
• To strengthen the organisation and sustainability of EUROCLIO

Project Results

EUROCLIO, together with the Council of Europe (and other organisations operating in this area) have during the project period brought together people from a great variety of countries discussing many aspects of the development of textbooks and other teaching materials. Key persons have been able to meet, discuss and work with colleagues. As a result textbooks in the MATRA countries are progressively including new methodologies  aiming on enhancing critical thinking and complex historical understanding
